Things are starting to look up...

So, little update on my life:

---I am now part of the back-end customer support for a major phone company. ;3; My first sit-down job--nay, my first DESK JOB! \o/ I'm still in training, but I'm lovin' it already! Since I'm back-end support, I don't have to handle 100+ calls a day; just the occassional escalated call in-between work stuff. :Db

---My throat has been sore-free for at least two weeks now, but I'm currently adjusting my sleep schedule to focus more around work than my LJ RP. ^^; Not fun, trying to stay awake in "class"...but tea definitely helps.

---My sister will be home by this weekend for her winter break. I really hope that THIS TIME she brings home the Samurai Jack and Slayers box sets.

---Everyone in my family will be off/available for Christmas Day family times. <3 Yaaaaaay, presents and annual Christmas buffet!

---Best of all...my new job means that my family can stay right where we are! <3 <3 <3 I can help pay rent again!

So, yeah...things are finally looking up for me. :)b

Throat: 1 Me: 0

stupid, downtime, writer's block
So, my throat has decided to dry up and close-up on me. :( Not. Good. Even with the combo if DayQuil, Honey-in-tea, and two-thirds a bag of cough drops had changed it much over the past two days. I've now resorted to gargling every hour to try and clear my throat of any gunk, too.

Maaaaaaaaah...and I was just getting ready for a season's worth of holiday work, too! ;_;
stupid, downtime, writer's block
Yes, I know; I should be asleep or working on springkink prompts. But this--this has to be posted!

Presenting some of the worst crossover ideas (And they might actually work) )
fic time~, Oooooo is that porn?
I know I should work on my [info]springkink prompts, but I have to share this with y'all. A couple of nights ago, in the tokusatsu chan for the RP group I'm in, I ended up fulfilling an imprompt request to write porn between two characters in the RP--Kurenai Wataru from Kamen Rider Kiva, and Nogami Ryoutarou from Kamen Rider Den-O. Now, they're actually dating in-game, hence the inspiration for the prompt idea: Wataru/Ryoutarou, bathroom shenanigans (Or something like that; I can't remember the exact prompt).

Also, the title of the fic is a bit of a inside joke. You see, in nearly every episode of Kiva, there is at least one bathing scene--all the important parts of the body are covered up, though. And it's usually Wataru in the bathtub, chatting with his living henshin (transforming) device, Kivat. Well, as you're about to read for yourselves, this particular scenario really isn't...

Not Just Another Bath Scene )

Finally~

I have a job~ <3

Okay, so it's only seasonal; I'll be a kettle ringer for The Salvation Army for the holidays. And I'll be standing all day...outside...in the cold. But I get paid for it, and that's what matters. ;3; After six months of unemployment, people, I finally have work!

What are you going to be for Halloween this year? Are you going to wear coordinating costumes with a friend or partner? Did you buy something pre-fab or make it yourself?

I'm planning to go as Emperor Palpatine for the second year now. (would've been third, but we didn't give out candy last year). And the costume came from Halloween Express about two yeas ago--nice face mask and full-body red robes. :Db I also bought a matching red lightsaber and slightly modified it to clip onto a belt loop of the jeans that I'm expecting to wear beneath the costume. "How?" Because there's a small hole in the costume on one side right where the belt loop is. >:D

As for life in general--things are finally starting to look up. If all goes well, I'll be ringing bells for the Salvation Army this holiday season. I just hope that, if I have to wear a suit, they'll have one in my size (Shirt size is between 2x and 3x). Also, Mom's got a seasonal job at her workplace that pays a bit better than her normal position, so that'll help with paying the bills a bit.

Writing-wise, I'm currently working on my Mamoru/Usagi fic...which isn't due until around Nov. 20th or so. ^^; I swear, I'll work on the rest very soon! It's just that Sailor Moon fic that needs to be pounded out first; the prompt had sent out a calling that pinged me deep in my Moonie soul.

Gaming-wise, I'm currently leveling up my Pokemon for Victory Road in FireRed. I mean, ALL my Pokemon. Thus, it's taking a while. ^^; But in Diamond, I just need to get my team of Birds+Kadabra ready for the Veilstone Gym. >:D Those Fighters will never survive the oncoming onslaught...

((Oh, yeah, notes to self: Finish Crisis Core so that you could return it to little brother one day. And beg Sis to bring home the Samurai Jack and Azumanga Daioh DVD collections for Thanksgiving))

And I'd like to end this by saying that I love my local library--so many Holmes and Poirot DVDs, and the first 12 eps of Sailor Moon anime uncut and subtitled! <3 Must find Eps 13-23...

Yes, claiming for [info]springkink is now open! (Go stake your claims for fic/art!) And yes...I claimed a lot of prompts for writing...again. But not quite as much as last time, thankfully. Thus, I present The Prompt List for Nov. 09 )

The prompt list for the latest round of [info]springkink has just been posted! Claiming opens up on Friday so, you got 'bout a day-n-a-half to browse through the lists and see which ones interest you.

...and again, I see a lot that pings me. Not quite as much as before, but definitely a lot. *sighs* Oh, well; it's something to do until I actually get a job...

Prompt submissions for Round VIII of [info]springkink is now open and will remain open until the 20th of this month. After last round's utter failure to produce anything, I intend to get back on the writing wagon with the hopes of people actually submitting some more tokusatsu prompts. *crosses fingers*

Small Haul this year, but that's to be expected when everyone's on a tight budget. I have:

~$100 worth of clothes shopping to go on tomorrow/Monday
~Everything Under the Sky, a mystery book
~Death Note, Vol. One

...my sister gave me the Death Note, shockingly enough.

Another year...another number...

So...today's my birthday. My 26th birthday.

On one hand, I've been living mold-free and within my own room for about one year now. On the other hand...still jobless, and now school-less as well due to being jobless.

Oh, well... I'll be getting cake tonight with the family. And birthday shopping for clothes tomorrow.

Note to self: Finish playing Crisis Core so that you could trade it for lil bro's birthday present--Final Fantasy Dissidia...

Something that Gives Me Hope...

While I was surfing through one of the offshoot sites of icanhazcheezburger.com, I found this. It gives me hope to see the US military honor ALL their fallen comrades. :') Thank you, all members of the Armed Forces, for your dedication and hard work.

Behind every great couple, there's often a great story. What's the best (nonfiction) how-we-met story you've heard?

I couldn't help but answer this Writer's Block--maily because the following story was (re)told to us kids within the past week or so:

Back in the early 80s, Mother went back to college by enrolling in my hometown's first computer degree program. One fall day, she was trying to get something to work on the computer, but no such luck. She got to the point where she was trying to unscrew the computer from where it was bolted down so that she could toss it out the window. In walked a young freshman who saw her trying to pry out the screws. He simply looked at her and asked, "Need some help?"

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how my parents met. :) (And no, they never did get the computer unscrewed and tossed out the window.)

I'm jobless. Again. Been jobless for 'bout six weeks now.

And my credit cards all hate me now. They're unpaid and over the limit (damn you school for denying me financial aid this past semester!), but I'm flat-out broke. I literally have bus money on me and maaaaybe a few bucks in the bank to keep my account open. I'm seriously considering selling my entire Sims 2 collection just to get enough cash to make one decent payment for my student loan so that it won't go into default.

But other than that? If I don't get a job real soon, my credit's gonna be so through the floor that it'll take the rest of my life to rebuild it.

I'm so grateful that Mom and Dad are letting me stay with them. I'm also grateful that Sis has enough cash to help pay my share of the rent until I get things back in order.

But Just this past sunday, I got sucker-punched. Mom's going in for surgery to remove her uterus and nearly everything else attached to it. The uterus itself isn't cancerous (thank god) but the ovaries...I'm praying that they're not cancerous either.

With all these worries hanging over me, it's a miracle that I'm even RPing at all. It's bad enough I haven't writting anything for this month's [info]springkink round. Still, I'm gonna try and write at least one or two prompts that I have sure-fire ideas for over the next day or two.

[info]kawaiigami, I'm sorry for not keeping in contact with you all this time; I've had a lot on my plate to deal with. I hope I can call you tonight or tomorrow, and I really do hope that everything goes well at your brother's wedding.

I LOVE MY BABY BROTHER!!!

He just gave me my very own laptop as a very (VERY) early birthday present! <3 It's a Dell basics, with a 210 Gig harddrive, and a very sleek design. <3

I swear, once I find a better-paying job, I'm getting him his own PS2--or Wii--for his birthday present.

Here we go again~! It's time for me to post my little prompts list for [info]springkink and let all of you see just how nuts I can be (at least, for claiming this many prompts). Still, this is the good kind of crazy(/pain), actually, since I haven't really written much, both online and IRL, in weeks. And so, without further ado, I present...

My List for June '09 )

All in total: 29 claims. But like I said before, this is a good kind of crazy(/pain), since the Muse has returned to me.
OTP, Justice and Liberty
Pulling myself away from my RPG to let my f-list know (or at least remind them) that the writing/art challenge community [info]springkink is still accepting prompt submissions until tonight around 9PM EST. For those who've never heard of it before, it is a fanfic-n-fanart-challenge community that accepts all kinds of prompts, even those based on the actors instead of the characters. And each prompt can be claimed up to three times for fic and art each. And the best part? You don't have to be part of the community to submit prompts. (However, you must be a member in order to make your claims and post your works.)

Claiming will be open around the 15th of this month--which means that my RP activity might drop a bit due to fic-writing. <.<; (And I intend to finish every single prompt that I intend to claim for this round, damnit!)

Yay, Spring Break!

Ahhhh, Spring Break...time to relax, catch up on some reading...and do internet-marathons of the new series that I've become hooked to. Yes, this is the plan for this spring break when I'm not RPing over at [info]campfuckudie, reading Shakespeare for class, or writing fiction. There are at least two series that I definitely plan to marathon over the next week or so:

1)Kamen Rider Den-O--My one and only character in the RP is from there, and I intent to re-watch the entire series to make sure that I'm really playing her right. For those of you who don't know, it's a TV show that's similiar to Power Rangers, except the main character is a bit of a fail!puppy who needs four unique monsters called "Imajin" to possess him in order to fight the evil Imajin and thus save the timeline from some serious bad-touching/-punching. I love Ryoutarou, the main character. He may have the Worst. Luck. Ever, but he's still trying to become stronger so that he could better help everyone.

And then, there's...

2)Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger--THIS is Power Rangers in the original format. In fact, most of my fellow Americans might know this series better as the source of the Power Rangers: Jungle Force series. The only difference is that the main characters work in the Special Development department of a famous sportswear corporation, and they are all students of the martial arts called Jyuken. There are two schools of Jyuken: The school of Justice, Geki Jyuken Beast Arts; and the evil school, RinJyuken Akamata, being led by the main bad-guy (and series' main emo) the Black Lion Rio...who, incidentally, has a fangirl who is also his second-in-command, the sexy Chamelion-ken wielder named Mele. So far, Mele is actually my favorite character. Granted, she is a bad guy, and a damn powerful one, too! But it's all for "Rio-sama", and she is completely devoted to him, proving her loyalty over and over again. And from the point I'm at in the series, Rio is starting to actually appreciate having her around. Personally, this is a Good Thing for their relationship, since the poor boy really does deserve having a loyal woman like Mele by his side...even though he also deserves a good thrashing for trying to take over the world as well.

In other news, I'm thankfully done with my taxes. Yay, E-filing! Yay, Dirent Deposit! Yay for having family who can help you do it right! \o/ Also, My British Lit Survey course is covering Elizabethian plays this month, and two of those plays are Twelfth Night and King Lear. I like them both, actually. And it helps that my professor is great at pointing out stuff like why Viola didn't recognize her twin brother right away. Wonderful conversations were to be had in my class this past two weeks.

And now...I feel like writing a little bit. Sob...why must the Muse inspire me in the middle of the night...?

I HATE ICE!!!

We just had a winter storm finally die out yesterday...which resulted in the loss of power around my entire zip code area. Thus, I am reporting from campus for slight venting and to let everyone know that, yes, I am alive and well; thankfully, I had four blankets and the family cat to keep me warm last night.

Also, because of the storm, I have not gone to class all week, since it is an early morning class, and UK has effectively canceled classes around that time since Tuesday onward. On the bright side, though, I can actually read ahead instead of just playing catch-up...

Here we go...

Within minutes, Obama is going to be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America. It's rather exciting, to be honest. I might update this post after his inaugural address. But right now, I'm content to just listen to CNN's Live Broadcast while I'm threading over at CFUD.

My GOD, though, the crowd at the National Mall is HUUUUUGE!!!
